It really feels like something that would go on a tapestry, it has this nice think line that goes throughout with the black and the shapes where the color is are very nice.

Reminds me of LoZ Wind Waker in a way, where everything is defined by a nice edge in the artwork.

The game itself is a different style, but the official art has the linework edges.

I love how clean the watercolor is in the entire piece.

It also is so smooth of a transition from color to color to get that shading without getting too watered out.

Very nice piece!

I love the movement of the character.

Reminds me of something like Calvin and Hobbes, where the emotion of the scene changes the character's look in a more drastic way.

I would like to add as like my only critique, that the title for Shenanigans didn't appear to me right away how it should have.

The "E" doesn't have enough of the look of "E" to trigger in my brain, you know?

And the "I" that is represented as a plunger is a good idea but maybe it should mimic the color of the other letters in the scene?

Or it could have some white tape near the top that separates the bottom and top of the stick just enough that it makes the look of a lower case "I"?

Just kinda spitballing a bit.

I think what is here is still very fantastic.

Oh wow thank you so much for the critique!! This is all very helpful and I appreciate how in-depth you went^^

I was wondering, did you do this piece in like a Photoshop program or did you do it in a Illustrator program?

The edges of every shape are very rounded and have that look of making shapes in Illustrator.

Either way, the portrait is very striking in a good way and really looks real.

I hope to see some more pieces that envoke this style!

EmberHope responds:

Thank you! :) I use Krita, it's a great open source painting program

The clean colors that make up each piece of the body are really good.

I also really love how smooth the shapes look even though they have a rougher edge.

And the little amounts of line to help define some edges work very well.

I would love to see more drawings of the Mystery Gang!

InsaneDingoArt responds:

Thanks so much for the compliments! <3 :) I'm glad you took notice of the soft edges i went with. ^_^

I love how Granbull has this like 90s movie villain poster look.

It somehow is almost too dramatic, but I think it makes it more enjoyable as a piece in a comedic sense.

This really is a great vector-based work.

You did a great job of making the character defined while also simplifying the form and removing the face.

I think it needs some kind of color background, maybe even just a simple vector sky with some wispy clouds.

Also, I think the right hand (on the left) should be the same color as the body blue. The subtle change of blue on the hands is too close which is bothering my eyes.

Overall, I think that this series is a really good idea and I hope you enjoyed making this!

EatBees responds:

Thank you so much!

Your compliments and pointers are super helpful, I'm always looking to improve my work and hearing a detailed second opinion lets me know exactly what areas I need to work on!

I like the perspective of the piece, coming from the bottom to lead to the open sky and moon.

I do wish that the lighting was maybe more apparent on the dog character and that the sky wasn't just black.

I think the gradients of light coming from the sea give more to the piece than the sky, so adding to the sky would even out the piece and draw the eye all over.

LesliePeslie responds:

Thank you for the criticism!!! I really appreciate it!!!

I like the duality of the piece, showing a demon and angel side.

I also like that the colors you would visual with each are switched, which makes people think about the idea of good and evil.

I think the lighting could have been changed a bit more with one of the pieces.

Like I think you could make it more drastic from one to the other to help increase that duality more.

I really enjoy the water/space-like hair, I think it plays well with the type of animal.

The pose is very flowing too, and the lines are really beautiful.

I think the piece could be made a little better with some very simple shading, like just making parts that would be covered a bit darker but with a hard shape and edge.

I hope to see more pieces that can play on movement like this!
